In the United States, unlicensed broadcasting is permitted using certain short range devices in little boxes that have been lab tested and certified by the FCC. The effective range of such a device on FM is about 50 to 200 feet, where on AM, these devices have been known to be heard up to a mile (or more) away. More information will be added soon.
